Srinagar, Apr 02: The Jammu and Kashmir Government informed the Legislative Assembly that chemotherapy services across hospitals are being delivered strictly in accordance with Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) guidelines, with no violations reported.

The details were shared in response to a starred question tabled by MLA R.S. Pathania regarding Cancer Treatment Institutes in the UT operating day-care facilities.

The house was informed that the Cancer Institutes/Oncology Departments function as Day Care Centres exclusively for administering chemotherapy for solid tumours. “These services are provided strictly in accordance with the mandatory guidelines issued by TMC, and all standard treatment protocols are meticulously followed,” the reply said. It added that there is no violation of any TMC guidelines, and chemotherapy services follow the approved norms under the AB-PMJAY Scheme.

On the availability of anti-cancer injections at SKIMS Srinagar, the government clarified that drugs such as Ramicirumab, Perjeta, Phesgo, and other immunotherapy medicines are not available through JKMSCL/RC. “Drugs included in the Cancer Care Health Benefit Package of Ayushman Bharat PMJAY/SEHAT Scheme are procured through JKMSCL,” the reply stated.

Regarding local procurement at GMC Jammu, the house was informed that all chemotherapy and supportive drug purchases are conducted in accordance with prescribed financial rules, procurement guidelines, and established procedures through JKMSCL. Local purchases are made only in cases of emergent clinical need, with necessary technical justification and approvals.

In response to questions on requests for relaxation of Standard Treatment Guidelines (STGs) over the past two years, the in-charge minister said all requests received were examined on merit and processed as per the prescribed procedure in consultation with technical authorities.
