Mission YUVA : Women entrepreneurship mela held at Govt Polytechnic Jmu

Jammu, Dec 30: Continuing the momentum of Mission YUVA (Yuva Udhyami Vikas Abhiyaan) across the Union Territory, a mega one-day Women Entrepreneurship and Self-Help Group (SHG) Mela was organised on Tuesday here at Government Polytechnic College Bikram Chowk.
According to a statement issued here the event aimed to foster a culture of self-reliance and boost women-led micro-enterprises, witnessed an overwhelming response from hundreds of women entrepreneurs, SHG members and aspiring youth from across the district.
The mela was organised by the District Administration Jammu. Senior officers from the district administration attended the event including Deputy Director Employment, Sunaina Saini; Assistant Director Employment, Mulkhlis Ali; Sub Divisional Magistrates and the District Nodal Officer JKEDI.
Officers from NRLM and line departments along with representatives from banks were also present. The event served as a specialised convergence platform to sensitise participants about the flagship Mission YUVA, which focuses on converting J&K into a thriving hub of enterprises.
Numerous stalls were set up by women Self-Help Groups, showcasing a diverse range of indigenous products, including handicrafts, handloom items and processed food products. Departmental stalls from Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Handicrafts provided on-the-spot information about the self-employment schemes.
Experts and resource persons from banks and JKEDI conducted technical sessions on business ideation, market linkages and the use of the Mission YUVA app for streamlined registration.
To inspire participants, successful women entrepreneurs shared their journeys and highlighted how institutional support and individual perseverance helped them establish sustainable livelihoods.
During the ceremony, officials awarded certificates of appreciation to the best-performing SHGs and individual entrepreneurs for their innovation and contribution to the local economy.
The Deputy Director Employment expressed satisfaction with the high turnout and noted that such melas are pivotal in transforming job seekers into job providers.
