Udhampur, Jan 12: Mission Director Dairy Development J&K, Er. Narinder Singh Bali today undertook an extensive tour of district Udhampur to review ground impact of Animal and Sheep Husbandry sector schemes and initiatives. According to a statement issued here, the Mission Director interacted with unit holders and beneficiaries taking firsthand feedback on availability of inputs and challenges faced at the ground level. The Farm owners were advised to make proper use of subsidies provided under government schemes to ensure sustainable livelihood generation and enhanced income. Addressing the unit holders, the Mission Director called for promoting goat farming by constituting SHGs and FPOs. He highlighted the importance of the circular economy and encouraged farmers to establish biogas plants by using dung which can be further used in making vermicompost – the best input for organic farming. He stressed on adopting organic farming practices and aligning livestock rearing activities with climate-resilient practices. Later, he also inspected infrastructure created under HADP including the Common facilitation Centre, besides the Bailing Unit established under Wool & Pelt project.
