Srinagar, Feb 20: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Friday informed the Legislative Assembly that approximately 92 restoration projects, valued at Rs 9.84 crore, have been initiated to repair damage caused by the floods in Marh Constituency, in Jammu.
Responding to a question by MLA Surinder Kumar, the Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the government's swift response to the disaster, with the district administration undertaking prompt assessments and relief measures under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms.
He noted that Rs 8,87,000 had been disbursed among 90 affected families in the constituency as part of the relief efforts.
The Deputy Chief Minister acknowledged the significant impact of the floods on Marh Constituency's inhabitants and commended the administration's efforts in providing relief and support. In addition to SDRF assistance, affected families received ration and essential items through the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) during the flood period.
The restoration works undertaken include repairs to roads, bridges, water supply schemes, power infrastructure, and other vital public facilities, managed by various departments such as PWD, PMGSY, JPDCL, PHE, JMC, and BDO offices Mandal Phillian and Marh. He informed the House that most temporary restoration works have been completed, with several others in progress, and a few slated for completion by July and August 2026.
The government's priority has been to restore essential services and infrastructure, ensuring the well-being of the affected communities. The Deputy Chief Minister's update reflects the administration's commitment to rebuilding and supporting Marh Constituency after the floods.
