Srinagar, Jan 08: Mahindra has pulled back the curtain on its newest flagship – the XEV 9S, a full‑size, seven‑seat electric SUV that promises to rewrite the rules of personal mobility for the Indian market.
In Kashmir valley the XEV 9S was launched at Mahindra Himalayan Motors, Srinagar in presence of Arshid Qadri, GM divisional head Kashmir JK Bank , as Chief Guest.
On the occasion Shabir Ahmad Khan SP South, MDS Bashir Ahmad Beigh, Jybran gul Beigh and CEO Himalayan motors, Sumeer pandita were also present.
In an era where modern life seems to shrink the spaces we once cherished – the quiet moments for reflection, the room to breathe, the freedom to gather with loved ones – Mahindra declares it has reclaimed that lost sense of openness with a vehicle that feels more like a moving sanctuary than a mere automobile.
Built from the ground up on the company’s brand‑new INGLO electric‑origin architecture, the XEV 9S is being billed as India’s first truly “electric‑first” SUV, conceived from the outset with pure electrification in mind rather than retrofitting an existing internal‑combustion platform. The design brief was simple yet ambitious: create a vehicle that can accommodate the ever‑growing aspirations of Indian families, creators, adventurers and everyday commuters whose lives, dreams and daily itineraries are expanding at a breakneck pace.
Inside, the cabin stretches out like a well‑designed living room, offering generous legroom, headroom and a flexible three‑row layout that can be reconfigured to suit any cargo or passenger need. The whisper‑quiet electric drivetrain delivers a serenity that is still a rarity on Indian roads, while the expansive glasswork and thoughtful interior lighting give occupants an almost magical sense of spaciousness. In short, the XEV 9S hands back to Indian buyers something that has long been denied: comfort that isn’t compromised, space that isn’t apologised for, and an electric powertrain that refuses to be small or timid.
R Velusamy, President of Mahindra’s Automotive Business and Managing Director of Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd., articulated the brand’s philosophy stating, “Technology only becomes meaningful when it expands the horizons of what people can achieve. The XEV 9S, anchored on our INGLO electric platform, does exactly that – it creates more space than any competitor, delivers a smooth, noise‑free ride, and leverages the MAIA brain to unlock a suite of high‑tech features that were once the preserve of premium segments.”
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, Chief Executive Officer of Mahindra’s Automotive Division and Executive Director of Mahindra Electric, reinforced the strategic significance of the launch: “The future of Indian mobility will be shaped by those who do not merely electrify existing models but who reimagine entire categories. With the XEV 9S we are not just entering the EV arena; we are expanding it. This SUV signals the dawn of a bold, new electric era for Mahindra – an era built on scale, purpose and a deep, granular understanding of how millions of Indians move, work and live.”
Priced attractively with an ex‑showroom starting point of Rs 19.95 lakh, the XEV 9S is positioned to make cutting‑edge electric technology accessible to a far broader segment of the population. Bookings are slated to open on 14 January, with the first deliveries rolling out on 23 January. In unveiling this spacious, silent and unapologetically bold electric SUV, Mahindra underscores its commitment to a future where mobility is not only cleaner but also richer, more inclusive and fundamentally more human.
