J&K Govt restores Darbar Move after 4 yrs

Spl leave, transport, TA announced for move employees Srinagar, Oct 16:Following the Chief Minister’s directive, the Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday announced the revival of the historic ‘Darbar Move,’nearly four years after it was discontinued in 2021. For the Winter Season 2025–26, select government offices will fully shift to Jammu, while others will operate with 33% staff strength or a minimum of 10 officials, whichever is lower. According to the official order, offices observing a five-day workweek will close in Srinagar after office hours on October 31, while those following a six-day week will shut on November 1. All move offices are scheduled to reopen in Jammu on Monday, November 3. To facilitate the transition, Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation (JKRTC) has been directed to arrange an adequate number of well-maintained buses for employees on November 1 and 2. Advance bookings will begin on October 27 at the Civil Secretariat and main JKRTC counters. Each convoy will be supported by one crane and two empty buses to manage any breakdowns en route. Medical assistance will be stationed at key transit points including Qazigund, Banihal, Ramsu, Ramban, Chenani, Udhampur, and JhajjarKotli to ensure safe passage for moving staff. In addition, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has been instructed to establish ration counters near residential colonies of move employees in Jammu. Employees involved in the move will be entitled to a special Transfer Allowance (TA) of ₹25,000, and non-gazetted employees will receive advance salary payments, recoverable in installments. October salaries will be disbursed on October 31 for all Darbar Move employees. Leave during the move period will be strictly regulated, allowed only in exceptional cases. However, five days of special casual leave will be granted to Kashmir-based employees and those without accommodation in Jammu. The government has also clarified that only government or municipal accommodation, obtained through proper allotment, may be occupied in Jammu. However, existing accommodations in Srinagar may be retained for family use, subject to approved guidelines.
