Jammu, Jan 26: Patriotic spirit and vibrant celebrations marked the 77th Republic Day across Jammu division on January 26, with events held smoothly amid robust security arrangements. The festivities showcased march-pasts, band performances, and cultural programs highlighting national unity and regional diversity, reflecting the region’s collective patriotic fervour.
Doda
At Doda’s Sports Stadium, the celebrations were lively and spirited. Chairman DDC Dhananter Singh Kotwal, the chief guest, unfurled the national flag and led a grand parade. Contingents from CRPF, SSB, Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, Police, Women Battalion, Forest Protection Force, Home Guards, NCC, and students from various schools participated. The parade displayed discipline and dedication to the nation. DDC Chairman Kotwal paid tribute to martyrs and highlighted India’s progress in sectors like infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, and environmental conservation. The event featured cultural performances, including patriotic songs and folk dances, and concluded with the distribution of mementos recognizing outstanding contributions.
Bhaderwah
In Bhaderwah, the Republic Day was celebrated at the New Bus Stand with enthusiasm. ADC Sunil Kumar Bhutyal unfurled the tricolor and took the salute during an impressive march-past by contingents of J&K Armed Police, NCC, and students from local schools. Senior officers and officials attended the event, which was marked by patriotic fervor and cultural displays.
Udhampur
Udhampur saw a grand celebration at the District Degree College, where District Development Council Chairperson Lal Chand unfurled the flag and observed the march-past, comprising contingents from police, NCC, and volunteers. Senior officials, including DIG Sarah Rizvi and Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai, participated in the event. Addressing the gathering, the DDC Chairperson emphasized the significance of the Constitution and India’s democratic values. He highlighted developmental milestones such as the completion of major road projects, the new Medical College, and schemes benefiting farmers and youth. Cultural programs and awards for excellence added vibrancy to the celebrations. Similar functions took place across the district’s sub-divisions and tehsils.
Ramban
In Ramban, the District Chairperson, Dr. Shamshad Shan, unfurled the national flag at the DPL and inspected the parade of contingents from police, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, and students. He highlighted key developmental achievements, including improved connectivity via tunnels and viaducts, and the commencement of the Katra–Banihal rail line. Cultural programs by students and awards recognized outstanding individuals. The district also celebrated at various tehsils and offices.
Kishtwar
In Kishtwar, District Chairperson Pooja Thakur led the celebrations at the Mini Secretariat, where she unfurled the flag and inspected the march-past featuring contingents from police, CRPF, CISF, Forest Protection Force, and students. The district-wide celebrations included functions at all government offices, colleges, and schools, with cultural programs and awards honoring students, officers, and social workers.
Samba
Samba district celebrated at Rani Suchet Singh Stadium, where DDC Chairman Keshav Dutt Sharma unfurled the flag and took the salute from contingents of police, NCC, veterans, and students. The event included cultural programs showcasing India’s heritage and messages of patriotism and social harmony. Local officials and citizens participated enthusiastically, reaffirming their commitment to national values.
Rajouri
Rajouri observed Republic Day with celebrations at the DPL Ground, where Chairman DDC Advocate Naseem Liyaqat unfurled the flag and led a march-past of contingents from police, paramilitary forces, NCC, and schools. The event featured cultural performances, where students displayed patriotic songs and dances.
