Encounter breaks out in Rajouri’s Kandi area

  Rajouri, Oct 07: An encounter broke out on Tuesday between terrorists and a joint team of security forces in the Beeranthub area under Police Station Kandi in Rajouri district. Official said the exchange of fire began when a team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) came under attack during a search operation in the area.  Following the initial contact, additional reinforcements from the Army, Police, and CRPF rushed to the spot and jointly cordoned off the entire locality to prevent the terrorists from escaping. Heavy exchange of fire was reported from the encounter site, and efforts were underway to neutralise the hiding terrorists. Sources said the area has been completely sealed, and door-to-door searches are being carried out. The operation was ongoing till the last reports came in.
