Budgam, Feb 09: Due to the incomplete work on the new building of the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Hardu Pazoo village in the Khansahib tehsil of Budgam district, patient care has taken a hit due to the huge inflow of visitors.
Tahir Ahmad Wani, one of the residents of Qumroo village, told Rising Kashmir that a primary health centre was provided by the government for the 30 villages since the 1960s. So the people in these villages will get relief through this facility.
“The Primary Health Centre in the Hardu Pazoo is one of the health centres in the Budgam district that is functional 24×7 but the health system did not have basic facilities like a USG machine, an analyzer and digital x-ray machine. Due to this, the patients are being forced to visit the sub-district hospitals Beerwah and Khansahib,” Wani said.
Ghulam Mohammad Mir, another resident from the Hardu Pazoo, said that the government has provided the money for the construction of the new building for the health centre in the village, and its construction work was started in 2017.
“The health centre, which is presently functioning in the old building, did not have proper space that is reason the government has provided funds, so a new building for the health centre will be constructed in the area, and people will get relief through this facility in the village and its surrounding areas,” Mir said.
He said the majority of the work on the new building of the health centre is still incomplete, as its construction work has not been completed yet. “The government should complete the pending work of the health centre on an immediate basis and should shift the centre to a new building where all kinds of facilities will be made available to the patients,” Mir said.
The locals have also requested the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Deputy Commissioner Budgam S. F. Hamid, and Director Health Centre Kashmir to look into the matter and take the necessary steps regarding this issue.
An official from the chief medical office said that the construction agency Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board is going to complete the pending work at the health centre. The tenders regarding this health centre have been allotted by the construction agency.
