In 7 months, 83 persons arrested under NDPS cases in Budgam

Budgam, July 25: Police have arrested 83 persons in the Narotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) cases in the last seven months in Budgam district.
The official data available with the Rising Kashmir reveals that the police have registered 57 NDPS cases, in which 83 persons have been arrested and five persons have been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
During this time period, Budgam police have recovered various kinds of illegal drugs which include: 7.5 kg of chars, 24 Kg 868 grams of cannabis leaves semi grinded, 934 grams 13 Mili of Heroin, 487 Kgs 814 grams of Poppy straws and 04 grams of Brown Sugar.
The police have also recovered cash amount of Rs 172,680, 37 bottles of Codeine, 4,358 tablets of Sposmo Proxy Von, 1 kg 800 grams of Bhangpatri and seized 13 vehicles.
The Poppy which was cultivated upon the 12 kanals & 1 Marlas of land have been destroyed and Poppy destroyed on Road sides at Russu Village upon Five kanals of land.
A police official from the district police headquarters said that the police are taking strict action against those who are involved in illegal drug-related activities across the Budgam district.
