Bandipora, June 01: In an extraordinary display of skill and teamwork, the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district achieved a remarkable feat by successfully conducting 14 caesarean sections (LSCS) and three normal deliveries within a span of just 24 hours.
Led by the gynaecologist, Dr. Shani Alam, and supported by proficient anaesthetist Dr. Sajad Munshi, theater technicians Faisal Rather, Hilal Ahmad, Arshid Ahmad and Male nurse Mohd Ramzan, the medical team accomplished these surgeries with precision and care, resulting in the healthy delivery of all babies and mothers.
Expressing his satisfaction with the successful outcomes, Chief Medical Officer Bandipora, Dr Rafi Ahmad Salati told Rising Kashmir that the complexity and importance of performing 14 LSCS procedures in such a short period of time cannot be overstated.
He said that this remarkable achievement showcases their incredible skills, unwavering commitment, and ability to work under immense pressure.
Rafi said from preparing for the surgeries, ensuring the safety and comfort of the mothers, to delivering the babies with precision and care, they exhibited the highest standards of medical excellence as each procedure required meticulous attention to detail, critical decision-making, and exceptional surgical skills to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Dr. Shani Alam who performed these surgeries told Rising Kashmir that he is proud of his team’s relentless efforts to ensure safe deliveries for every mother. “It is a privilege to contribute to the well-being of both mothers and babies in our community”, he said.
The significance of this achievement on the local community cannot be emphasized enough. Those who once had to rely on referrals to hospitals in Srinagar city now find themselves overwhelmed with heartfelt gratitude and deep admiration for the tireless medical team at CHC Hajin.
Mohammad Ayaz, a local told Rising Kashmir that the medical team at CHC Hajin has shown relentless dedication by performing these surgeries without any breaks, sparing them the inconvenience of traveling to Srinagar hospitals. They truly go above and beyond for the well-being of mothers and babies, he said.
Ayaz said that the medical team at Hajin has brought a ray of hope to their community and their continuous and tireless commitment to performing these surgeries locally has made a world of difference for expectant mothers.
Another local resident said that CHC Hajin has become a beacon of excellent healthcare and the determination of doctors to provide timely and efficient services has relieved them from the stress of seeking medical help elsewhere.

Play active role during Hajj pilgrimage: Safeena Beigh to Officials
Srinagar, June 01: The Chairperson, J&K Haj Committee, Safina Beigh Thursday convened a meeting of officers at Haj House Bemina to review the arrangements for comfort and convenience of pilgrims scheduled to perform Hajj, this year.
She instructed all to make sure that Haj Pilgrims do not face any inconvenience and asked them to play an active role during the entire period of Hajj Pilgrimage.
The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman, J&K Haj Committee, other members besides Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Director Health, ADDC Budgam, ADC Srinagar, Director Airport Authority Srinagar, Haj Officer, J&K Haj Committee, officers of various departments including Immigration, SRTC, Customs, CISF, CRPF, BCAS, Police, Traffic and other concerned departments.
The meeting deliberated on agenda points including commencement of Haj flights, reporting of pilgrims at the Haj House, deployment of staff and machinery, shifting of X-Ray machine from Airport to Haj House, issuance of Entry Passes, transportation of pilgrims by J&K SRTC, Custom/ Immigration clearance by Customs and Immigration Department.
Besides, the meeting also discussed security arrangements and traffic management, civic services, medical facilities at the Haj House and the airport, free passage of pilgrims at the Drop gate of airport, issuance of Entry Passes for Airport, avoiding repeated screening of luggage and storage of Zam Zam at the airport.
Moreover, deployment of Magistrates by DC Srinagar/Budgam, boarding/lodging of pilgrims and dissemination of relevant information were also discussed.
Addressing the meeting, the Chairperson impressed on all the officers to ensure respective arrangements are put in place before the commencement of departure of pilgrims.
