Srinagar, May 23:  The Jammu and Kashmir government has granted permission for shooting of 404 films, serials and advertisements in the last two years. Apurva Chandra, Secretary , Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India said on Tuesday.
He said it is a matter of satisfaction that since the launch of film policy by the Jammu and Kashmir government two years ago around 404 films, Serials and Advertisements were either given permission or shot here at different locations of the Union Territory.
The secretary revealed this while talking to the media during a side event of G20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Srinagar, Film Tourism, Ecotourism and The Road Ahead in Jammu and Kashmir.
“India is a young country, more than 50 percent of our population is of young people, they would have not seen attractions of Kashmir either through films or other media,” he said, adding that because it was impossible to visit Kashmir for many years.
He added that the situation has changed now and more and more people are visiting Kashmir.
“Film makers under big banners from Bollywood and South Cinema are coming here to shoot  their films,” he said, adding that it has created a big change.
Apurva said that watching Kashmir through films will give a boost to tourism.
He said that the G20 event for him is a coming out process for Jammu and Kashmir.
“ During the past three decades  no such international event was held here,” Apurva said, adding around 61 delegates from member and invitee countries and different organisations are taking part in the G20 Tourism Working Group meeting in Srinagar.
He added it will be their priority to make the delegates notice the progress taking place here and how beautiful locations Kashmir has to offer so that when they return to their home countries they will encourage people to visit here for shooting films .
Apoorva stressed that people have been made equal partners in this international event.
“People from different walks of life including kani shawl weavers, apple and lavender growers, famers running Farmer Producer Organisation of lotus stems  and others are being introduced with the delegates”, Apurva said
“ People who have been mentioned by Narendra Modi  in his Mann Ki Baat are also introduced with the delegates,” he said.
