Illicit timber seized in Budgam, three smugglers arrested: Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday have seized 09 logs timber measuring 60 CFT and arrested three smugglers in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

 

 A Police spokesperson said, Police Station Magam received an information that 03 persons namely Hilal Ahmad Shah S/O Ab Rashid Shah R/O Nagbal Khag, Irfan Ahmad Bhat S/O Sulaiman Bhat R/O Chesti Colony Baramulla A/P Nowgam Srinagar and Tahir Ahmad Sheikh S/O Bashir Ahmed Sheikh R/O New Colony Summerbugh Nowgam have loaded illegally acquired timber in the form of logs in their Vehicles Maruti Wagon R bearing registration number JK01K -8380 & Tata Mobile JK02AK- 2119 and intend to transport it to other location. 

 

 

“Accordingly, the said vehicles laden with illegally acquired timber 09 logs measuring 60 CFT were seized and all the three smugglers have been arrested on the spot”, he said.

 

He said that Case FIR number 59/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Magam and investigation taken up.
