Budgam, March 30: Police on Wednesday seized 14 cubic feet of illicit timber from a vehicle and arrested three persons in the Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
An official from the district police headquarters Budgam told Rising Kashmir that during the naka checking at Kanir Chadoora, a police team from the Police Station Chadoora intercepted a vehicle, Santro, bearing registration number DL3CAL-3727, with three persons on board.
“During the search of the vehicle, police recovered 56 sawns of illicit timber and 14 cubic feet of Kairoo timber,” the official said, adding that all three persons were arrested and the vehicle used for the commission of the crime was seized.
The official identified the three persons as Fayaz Ahmad Mir son of Gulam Qadir (driver), Jehangir Fayaz Mir son of Fayaz Ahmad, and Rayees Ahmad Rather son of Nazir Ahmad; all residents of Kanir, Chadoora.
A case FIR number 51/2023 has been registered at Police Station Chadoora and an investigation has been taken up, the official said.
