Illegal mining: Police seize 23 vehicles in three districts

Srinagar, Oct 03: Continuing its crackdown on illegal mining activities, the police have seized a total of 23 vehicles involved in transporting illegally extracted minerals across Pulwama, Ganderbal, and Shopian districts.
In Pulwama, police seized 2 tippers with registration numbers JK08G-6301 and JK13E-0314 from Police Post Rahmoo. Additionally, four more tippers—JK13J-2378, JK01AN-8100, JK01AP-9093, and JK04B-8285—were confiscated by Police Station Pulwama.
In Ganderbal, police registered three FIRs and seized nine tippers, two Tata Mobile vehicles, and two tractors involved in illegal mining activities. The vehicles, loaded with minor minerals extracted from Nallah Sindh, were intercepted within the jurisdictions of Police Stations Ganderbal, Safapora, Gund, and PP Nagbal. The registration numbers of the seized vehicles include JK05B-9529, JK01AF-0052, JK01T-1471, JK13C-8090, JK01J-9411, JK09C-5028, JK15C-0729, JK18-1190, JK01AX-1953, PB5AX-7928, JK16B-9334, and JK01R-3970.
In Shopian, police seized two dumpers with registration numbers JK13J-6277 and JK13D-7161 from Police Post Turkwangam. Two additional dumpers—JK13K-1041 and JK13J-7755—were confiscated by Police Station Shopian.
Cases have been registered under relevant laws at the respective police stations, and investigations are underway.
