Illegal extraction & transportation of minerals: 238 persons held, 211 vehicles seized, 92 FIRs registered so far this year: Police

In its sustained efforts to safeguard the natural resources in the district, Budgam Police cracked down heavily on illegal excavators and transporters in district. 

 

 

 

In a statement issued to media here, a police spokesman said, “During current year as many as 92 FIRs were registered, 238 persons were arrested and 211 vehicles were seized for illegal excavation and transportation of minerals in district Budgam as per following nomenclature:

 

Police Station Budgam :- 32 cases,70 Persons arrested, 62 Vehicle seized

 

Police Station Khansahib:- 09 cases,14 Persons arrested, 14 Vehicle seized

 

Police Station Magam:- 06 cases,28 Persons arrested, 11 Vehicle seized

 

Police Station Beerwah:- 39 cases,85 Persons arrested, 88 Vehicle seized

 

Police Station Khag:- 01 Vehicles cases,04 Persons arrested, 04 Vehicle seized

 

Police Station Chadoora:- 15 cases,37 Persons arrested, 32 Vehicle seized

Total cases 92, Persons arrested 238 Number of vehicle seized 211

 

Budgam Police reiterates it yet again that persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
