Srinagar, Feb 21: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V.K. Birdi and IG CRPF Mitesh Kumar on Friday chaired a joint security review meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring peace and security in the region through strategic planning and inter-agency cooperation.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF, including DIG CKR Srinagar Rajiv Panday, DIG CRPF South Parveen Kumar Singh, DIG CRPF North Sudhir Kumar, SSP Srinagar, SSP Budgam, SSP Ganderbal, and CRPF Commandants.
In a statement issued here today, it stated the meeting’s primary goal was to assess and enhance security measures in the region, focusing on improving coordination between the J&K Police and CRPF. The review focused on joint operations, intelligence sharing, and refining counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism strategies.
“The meeting aimed to strengthen collaborative efforts between the forces to maintain law and order and ensure peace in Kashmir,” it stated.
Both IGP Birdi and IG Kumar stressed the importance of continued cooperation and operational efficiency in maintaining security. They also discussed the logistical planning required for future operations, with an emphasis on refining existing strategies.
Earlier, IGP Birdi visited Baramulla to assess the operational readiness of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF. During his visit, he chaired another joint security review at DPL Baramulla, focusing on coordination, resource utilization, and emerging security challenges.
He commended the forces’ efforts in maintaining law and order and emphasized the need for continued collaboration to enhance the region’s security framework.
IGP Birdi also reviewed the Special Operations Group (SOG), praising their training and professionalism in counter-terror operations.
The discussions included strategies for the upcoming summer season, highlighting key security tactics and contingency plans. Birdi expressed satisfaction with the personnel’s dedication and stressed the importance of proactive measures to address evolving security challenges.
The visit was attended by IG Ops Mitesh Jain, DIGP NKR Maqsood-ul-Zaman, DIG CRPF NKOR R S Rawat, SSP Baramulla Shri Gurinderpal Singh, SSP Sopore Divya D-IPS, SSP Bandipora Harmeet Singh, SSP Kupwara Ghulam Jeelani, SP Handwara Mushtaq Ahmad, and other senior officers from both police and CRPF.
