Srinagar, Dec 03: In a series of review meetings addressing security concerns, anti-terrorist operations, and the recent trend of infiltration, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V. K. Birdi-IPS, emphasised the need for increased focus on human intelligence and technical inputs.
The meetings, held in North Kashmir’s Kupwara and Handwara, tackled issues related to day-to-day policing and the prevailing security scenario.
IGP Birdi urged officers to intensify anti-terrorist operations, emphasising the importance of flushing out inimical elements. He called for stringent action against any person or organisation supporting anti-national activities. The focus areas included the anti-terrorist grid, heightened intelligence efforts, and the on going war against drugs.
During the meetings, IGP Birdi directed officers to work without prejudice, taking stern action against law violators. He emphasised the need for law enforcement agencies to be well-prepared to respond quickly and effectively to any security incidents. Discussions covered a spectrum of issues, including the nuances of countering infiltration and maintaining law and order in the districts.
In review meeting at the Kupwara, DIG NKR Baramulla Vivek Gupta-IPS, SSP Kupwara Yogual Manhas, Additional SP Kupwara, and other senior officers. Similarly, in Handwara, SSP Handwara Dawood Ayoub and other officers of the Police district participated.
The meetings saw officers providing comprehensive briefings on the prevailing security scenario, the existing security grid, and operational strategies employed to counter challenges. IGP Birdi analysed the crime situation, including actions against burglars, drug peddlers, bootleggers, and gamblers.
Special emphasis was placed on detecting crimes against women, with a focus on surveillance to deter criminal activities. IGP Birdi advised officers to ensure professional investigations in UAPA cases for effective dealing with the terrorist eco-system.
The engagement with community members emerged as a key theme, with IGP Birdi directing officers to actively participate in fostering peace and harmony. The collaborative approach was highlighted as crucial, urging officers to work impartially and take stern actions against any law violations.
