The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed a heated moment as BJP legislators staged a walkout over the ongoing strike by daily wagers and casual laborers.
Following the walkout, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah addressed the House, stating, “We have formed a committee for daily wagers. If the BJP does not trust this committee, it means they do not trust the government officials.”
The BJP members expressed dissatisfaction over the handling of the grievances of daily wagers, leading to their protest exit from the session.
The party has been pressing for a concrete resolution to the concerns of contractual and casual workers, who have been demanding regularization and pending wages.
The state government, under CM Omar Abdullah’s leadership, has constituted a committee to address the demands of the affected workers. However, the BJP’s walkout indicates their skepticism about the committee’s effectiveness in resolving the issues. (KNS)
