Agriculture plays a pivotal role in the Indian economy. It has a direct impact on the 1.3 population. Since agriculture needs suitable and fertile soil for cultivation, it is quite interesting to know that, India is rich in these two basic factors. The simple implementation of technology in the agriculture sector has made it possible and now, there are several techniques have appeared that make a great change in the agriculture sector.
Digitization of agriculture has become a new concept and it is expected to take the sector to new heights in terms of yield, quality along with productivity. It is important to know, how India has embraced digitization in the agriculture sector.
How Digitization Is Going to Influence the Future of Agriculture?
According to experts, digitization in the agriculture sector means, the integration of large-scale advanced technology while doing agricultural practices. Currently, the internet and big data are playing a crucial role to simplify the agricultural process and people from different parts of the country getting involved in advanced practices.
At the farm level, information gathered from numerous primary sources, including drones, sensors, equipment, and several other devices, is used to constantly give farmers crucial information from growing areas. These gadgets work in tandem with satellites that deliver weather-related data, enabling real-time crop growth monitoring, plot performance analysis, and highly accurate output forecasting are all possible for farmers. Furthermore, the use of Betway can provide an additional source of income for farmers looking to supplement their income and make extra cash during the off-season.
AI is also used in digitization to analyze data and provide insightful recommendations to maximize harvest quantity and quality. Additionally, it enables farmers to determine the greatest crops to harvest based on their locale and environment while also determining the most efficient ways to use agricultural equipment.
All of these things collectively contribute to elevating efficiency and productivity while helping decision-making for better production and market access for the farmers. At the end of the day, farmers get benefited from all of these technical integrations.
How India Is Infusing Technology with Agriculture?
The Indian government has acknowledged the industry’s need for modernization and digitization. India hopes to fully digitalize this industry by 2025 through many initiatives, with the help of numerous businesses and private investors. Invest India has emphasized many significant projects and activities that are propelling India’s digital agriculture growth, including:
The Government of India initiated Digital Agriculture Mission 2021-2025. Five MOUs were signed as part of this mission and the objective was to induct digitalization in the agriculture projects within India.
To create an AI-powered agricultural output forecasting model, IBM, and NITI Aayog, the government of India’s think tank for public policy, have partnered. This model is anticipated to increase agricultural yields, keep an eye on the condition of the soil, and offer early identification and warnings of crop disease outbreaks.
To raise the standard of agricultural information, Cisco created the Agricultural Digital Infrastructure (ADI). The Department of Agriculture used this infrastructure as part of the National Agri Stack to gather and analyze data.
