Kulgam, Feb 06: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat on Monday underlined the importance of agriculture and allied sectors in the UT’s economy saying the district-level training cum orientation on Holistic Agriculture Development Programme will ensure the availability of quality human resources and provide necessary ground support for the implementation of the plan.
Inaugurating the HADP at the conference hall of Government Degree College Kulgam, here, DC stressed the participants to reach out to the people and motivate them to adopt modern technological intervention and scientific methods to boost agricultural production.
The programme was organized by Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department in collaboration with KVK Kulgam and allied departments. The training on the first day started with the title “Roadmap for Poultry Development in J&K” for which resource persons from the Animal Husbandry Department imparted training to the participants.
All technical persons (gazetted/non-gazetted) of the Animal Husbandry department and Sheep Husbandry department were imparted detailed training regarding the project.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC directed the concerned departments to work in close coordination for the successful implementation of these mega projects under holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors in an integrated manner to bridge the gaps in demand and supply in all the fields.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Sartaj Ahmad Shah said that the 29 projects approved under the holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors will be a game changer in the overall agriculture scenario of the region. He said the projects have been designed in consonance with the available resources, opportunities, technological interventions and desirable targets.
Others who participated in the programme were the Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, AD Fisheries and field officers of the Agriculture department, Animal Husbandry department, KVKs and other officers.
