Jammu, Dec 05: The recent resounding victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Hindi heartland not only paves the way for the 2024 parliamentary elections in favor of the BJP but also exposes the overinflated egos of numerous Congress leaders, stated Brig Anil Gupta (retd), the party’s spokesperson.
“The voters displayed political maturity by rejecting the Congress’ divisive and opportunistic politics, recognizing the positive performance and good governance provided by the BJP-led government,” he said in a statement.
Gupta added, “While the Congress leadership engaged in arrogance, pessimism, lies, unparliamentary language, and a string of false promises, the BJP workers, led by the Prime Minister, presented their report card along with a list of fulfilled promises. The people of the Hindi heartland refused to be swayed by the Congress’ false promises, showcasing their political acumen and maturity. On the contrary, the electoral verdict reflected Modi’s influence and the positive response to the BJP’s governance.”
The election results, where there was pro-incumbency in BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh and anti-incumbency in the Congress-ruled states, emphasized that performance during the incumbency is a decisive factor for voters, he said, adding that the vote for good governance and people-oriented welfare schemes demonstrated that voters are no longer enticed by opportunistic slogans, false promises, or manufactured accusations.
The electorate has placed faith in Modi’s guarantee of ‘Viksit&Aatmnirbhar Bharat’ with “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas,” while rejecting the anti-Bharat and anti-Sanatan statements made by Congress leaders and its alliance partners. Rather than gracefully accepting the people’s verdict, the Congress leadership is making flimsy excuses, including questioning the reliability of EVMs, which does not resonate well with the people, he said.
He said the Congress, confined to just three states, continues to harbor the idea of rebranding and relaunching one of its leaders as the prime ministerial candidate. It is high time for the Congress to discard leaders whose expiry date is long overdue, he said.
Responding to the Congress spokesperson’s claim that the election was fought between secular and divisive forces, Brig Gupta asserted that the nation’s verdict on secularism and divisiveness is evident from the results. “Congress, from the partition of the country onwards, has been at the forefront of dividing Bharat through appeasement, caste-ridden politics, and divisive agendas,” he said.
