Budgam, March 23: HELP Foundation J&K in collaboration with Block Medical Office, medical block Khag, conducted a one-day general health and eye check-up camp in Shunglipora village of Tehsil Khag in Budgam district.
The camp saw an overwhelming response from the general public, the foundation said in a press release.
“The BMO office had deputed three doctors for the camp and 207 patients were seen during the one-day camp. The elderly patients were given preference and they were particularly scrutinised for lifestyle diseases like diabetes and blood pressure, while women patients were particularly screened for reproductive health-related issues,” the statement said.
On-spot diagnostic tests were conducted for diabetes and HBA1C and free medicine and supplements were distributed to the poor and needy patients. In the eye check-up camp, vision tests were done for all the attendees and elderly persons were scrutinised for cataract disease. The eye camp was conducted by qualified technicians, associated with the HELP Foundation.
It said that 170 patients (120 females and 50 males) attended in the general medical check-up/diabetes camp, while 37 patients attended in the eye check-up camp.
The community members in the Shunglipora thanked the HELP Foundation and the local health officials for organising the camp in their village. Tahir who represented HELP Foundation said that the camp was conducted on the direction of the Chairperson Ms. Nighat Shafi Pandit.
He informed that HELP Foundation is working in district Budgam on child rights, women empowerment and healthcare. “This camp was the first one in the area and the foundation will conduct more such camps in the Budgam district in the coming weeks,” Tahir said, adding that the focus will be particularly on far-off, remote and mountainous villages of the district to reach the poor and needy patients in these villages.
