Srinagar, May 01: In a heartening display of generosity in the small village of Parraypora in Rafiabad area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a donated rooster fetched a remarkable sum of 1 lakh rupees in a charity auction held for the renovation of a local mosque.
Ghulam Mustafa Parray (50), a resident of the village, initially donated the rooster for the mosque’s renovation, never expecting the overwhelming response it would receive. The spirited bidding war saw the rooster being acquired by Mohammad AltafParray (45), a fruit merchant, for a staggering amount of 1 lakh rupees.
Expressing his surprise and gratitude, Ghulam Mustafa Parray, a driver by profession, remarked, “I never imagined that my rooster would fetch such a remarkable amount.”
The auction, held amidst the backdrop of villagers’ solidarity, witnessed locals rallying behind the ongoing construction of Masjid Qadriaya in the area. With the mosque still under construction, residents have been contributing donations according to their means. The donation of the rooster prompted some residents to organize an online auction to further bolster the mosque’s funds.
Ghulam Mohammad, one of the locals, highlighted the inspiration drawn from recent instances of generous contributions to charitable causes. “We were inspired by recent acts of kindness, such as the auction of an egg, and today’s auction further reinforces our belief in the power of collective support,” he shared.
Reflecting on the significance of the auction, another resident emphasized the spiritual aspect, expressing belief in God’s blessings for both the donor and the generous bidder. “God will surely reward the noble gesture of donating the rooster for the mosque’s construction. May they be blessed in this world and the hereafter,” the resident remarked with reverence.
