Srinagar, June 01: In a bid to promote heart health and recognize local athletic achievements, the Badamwari Athletes hosted a “Heart Health Awareness & Felicitation Event” on Saturday. The event, supported by various prominent clubs in the valley, highlighted the significance of preventive health measures and celebrated the spirit of community involvement.
The primary focus of the event was to educate the public on heart health, emphasizing the adage “Prevention is better than Cure.” Renowned cardiologist Dr. Irfan Ahmad Bhat and world-famous endocrinologist Dr. Shariq Masoodi led informative sessions. They discussed the causes of cardiac arrest and other heart-related ailments, particularly among athletes, and provided actionable advice on maintaining a heart-healthy lifestyle.
The event saw participation from a diverse group of attendees, reflecting its wide-reaching impact. Following the educational sessions, the event concluded with a felicitation ceremony recognizing individuals who have made notable contributions to the local sports community. Honorees included Mudhasir Bashir Shah, Jalal Jeelani from Pathfinders, and Dr. Zubair Qureshi, who successfully completed the Zojila Marathon and Half Marathon on May 19, 2024.
Special guests and dignitaries such as Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, Danish Dhaar, Yaseen Lone, Mushtaq Ahmad, Sunny Sajad Haider, and Shafatul Bashir were also present. Members from various esteemed clubs, including AJKMF, JK MBA, Kashmir Runners Club, Zulfkar Youth Club, Health Care Club, Koahi Maraan Health Club, Sun Shine Fitness Club, Kashmir Runners Group, KMBA, North Cliff Trekking Club, and Swim And Survival Society Kashmir, graced the occasion with their presence.
The event underscored the importance of collective effort in addressing pressing health issues and fostering a culture of wellness and support. It concluded with a pledge from all attendees to continue advocating for and contributing to noble causes that benefit society.
