Srinagar, Aug 07: The Health Department Kashmir will observe Swachhata Pakhwada, a nationwide campaign initiated by the Government of India, to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation across the country.
The Swachhata Pakhwada is being organized in Jammu and Kashmir from August 01-August 15 with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhata in and around the departments in the UT. The theme of current year’s Swachhata Pakhwada is “Ek ped maa Ke naam” and “Ek ped Shaheed Ke naam.”
The directorate has issued a directive to all the Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents & Block Medical Officers across Kashmir division or their representatives to report to the directorate on August 09.
Besides that all the officers and officials of the directorate have been asked to be part of the said campaign. The health department will plant trees during the campaign as a tribute to the mothers and martyrs under the umbrella of the Swachhata Pakhwada.
An official said that the directorate will organize a plantation drive and oath ceremony in the campus which would be super headed by Director Health Services Kashmir.
To maintain high standards of cleanliness in cities, towns and villages, ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’, a 15-day intensive sanitation and cleanliness drive is being undertaken by all the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Kashmir division with large scale public participation.
The official said the sanitation initiative will continue for 15 days and will culminate with the celebrations of Independence Day 2024. The fortnight is being observed in all urban & rural areas of the UT with the objective is to maintain cleanliness in cities, towns and villages especially at the rural and urban convergence points like bus stands, railway stations, markets, public parks etc.
During the campaign different Swachhata messages are being disseminated through the LED screens installed in the ULBs.
Further, D2D visits are being carried out by the designated teams from the ULBs for raising awareness, and educating the public on the significance of segregation of waste at source and use of Swachhata App.
