Pulwama, May 08: A rescue operation is underway at Hatiwara area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district to retrieve two persons who drowned in Jhelum after a boat capsized on Wednesday evening.
Hatiwara is a village on one bank of river Jhelum along Srinagar Jammu national highway near Lethpora which falls under Pampore Tehsil of Pulwama.
Tehsildar Pampore informed Rising Kashmir that around eight non local labourers were crossing the Jhelum river by a boat after finishing some agriculture work on the other shore.
He said when they were crossing the river by the boat driven by a local resident, the boat capsized near the midpoint of the river.
The Tehsildar Pampore informed that seven persons including the non local resident were rescued.
He added that two persons are missing and a search operation is underway to trace them.
