According to a statement issued here, Throughout the year, the Handwara Police registered a total of 50 cases under the NDPS Act, demonstrating their proactive approach in addressing the illicit drug trade. Out of these cases, 48 were diligently challaned, ensuring legal actions against the offenders. This robust enforcement reflects the department’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and curbing the illegal drug trade within the community.
Moreover, the Handwara Police seized substances with an estimated value of one crore, underscoring their success in intercepting and preventing the distribution of narcotics. In a bold move to tackle the roots of the drug trade, the Handwara Police also attached three properties with an estimated combined worth of 7 crores.
