Srinagar, Nov 01: Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen, Chairman of J&K Peoples Democratic Front (PDF), has expressed deep dismay over the “prevailing administrative paralysis” in addressing the concerns of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted issues such as power shortages, uncontrollable price hikes in the market, and rising unemployment among the youth.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Yaseen criticized the administration for its failure to provide adequate electricity supply to consumers, pointing out that the Power Development Department (PDD) had disregarded its own power curtailment schedule. He emphasized that common people were suffering due to the lack of seriousness and responsibility shown by the administration in addressing their grievances.
Yaseen also condemned the administration for its inability to control the soaring prices of essential commodities. He noted that unscrupulous traders and shopkeepers were taking advantage of the situation, and essential items were becoming unaffordable for the average citizen. The chairman highlighted the alarming increase in the price of mutton and the financial strain it put on low-income families. Additionally, he expressed concerns about the growing unemployment rate, which was leading many young people into the clutches of the drug menace.
Yaseen urged the government to ensure adequate power supply and implement an emergency stipendary scheme for unemployed educated youth. He appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to personally assess the ground situation and hold accountable the officers responsible for the poor performance in their respective departments. Yaseen emphasized the need for proactive measures to address the issues faced by the people in the absence of elected representatives and civilian government.
