Srinagar, July 18: Chairman J&K People’s Democratic Front (JKPDF) and former minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has criticized the government for ignoring the Khansahib area with respect to development and economic prosperity.
“Some crucial developmental projects of immense public importance including the construction of two mini hydel power projects at Nalla Shaliganga and Nalla Sukhnag, construction of grid station at Khansahib and Gulmarg-Tossamaidan and Yusmarg tourist circuit have been kept languishing for a long time without any reason and logic despite having cabinet approval of the previous civilian governments,” Hakeem said in a statement.
He said the inordinate delay in the construction of these projects was proving detrimental to the socio-economic prosperity of the Khansahib and adjoining areas of Budgam.
According to the statement, Hakeem Yaseen was addressing a deputation of PDF workers on Tuesday. “The construction of the proposed mini hydel power projects at Nalla Shaliganga and Nalla Sukhnag along with the construction of the grid station at Khansahib has a huge potential to meet the total electricity requirements of over 150 villages of Khansahib and Budgam areas. The government should in the larger interests of the people prioritize the execution of work on these ambitious power projects.”
Likewise, the construction of the Yusmarg to Doodhpathri to Tossamaidan tourist circuit needs to be taken up on priority as the project envisages opening up new vistas on the tourism landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, he said, adding that the circuit holds in its chest, virgin and varied tourism attractions for recreation and amusement of domestic and foreign tourists encompassing adventure tourism, golfing, trekking and winter games.
The tourism circuit would be a path-breaking initiative towards opening employment opportunities for the youth, he added.
The PDF chairman has sought the personal intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for executing work on these vital developmental projects of “immense public importance”.
“These projects have far-reaching effects on the overall socio-economic prosperity of the Khansahib and other areas Budgam,” he said.
