Bandipora, Dec 13: Hajin, North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, once a hotbed of terrorism, is making headlines with a groundbreaking turnout of 20,000 residents at the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.
The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is a nationwide initiative, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to inform and empower citizens about the Central Government’s flagship schemes and programmes.
In a remarkable turn of events, Hajin, once synonymous with terror activities, and a stronghold for LeT terrorists and their commanders, is experiencing a positive transformation through the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.
Historically distant from government outreach, the locals are now actively participating in events organized by the District Administration Bandipora under the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.
Dr. Owais Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, revealed that 22 panchayats and 13 wards in the Hajin area were covered during the yatra. Residents not only received information but were also empowered with knowledge about various Central Government flagship schemes.
Ab Jabar Dar, a local from Hajin, expressed gratitude, stating that the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra has made government schemes accessible. “We are keen to understand and make use of these programs to improve our lives,” he added.
Dar emphasised that participation in this initiative has opened their eyes to a spectrum of government initiatives. “Before, we felt left out of government activities. Thanks to the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, it’s like we’ve been invited to explore new opportunities and possibilities,” said another local, Mohd Ashraf Shah.
Emerging from the shadows of instability, Hajin is now entering a new era of governance and local collaboration. This positive change in an area historically associated with security challenges holds promise for a brighter future, according to Ashraf.
