Srinagar, Nov 16: An encounter between security forces and terrorists broke out in Samnoo village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday. Officials revealed that the encounter is still underway after a joint operation was initiated based on specific intelligence inputs.
They said a combined team comprising the Army’s 34RR, Special Police Groups, and Central Police Force cordoned the suspected location after receiving information. The hidden terrorists responded with gunfire, leading to an encounter in the area. As per reports, 2-3 terrorists are believed to be hiding in the area.
Officials stated that the operation is temporarily halted for the night and is scheduled to resume early tomorrow morning. Security forces have sealed all entry and exit points of the village, maintaining a tight grip on the locality. As of the latest report, there are no confirmed casualties among the terrorists
Meanwhile, Kashmir Zone Police took to their official social media handle, announcing the ongoing encounter in Samnoo, D.H Pora area of Kulgam district. The joint forces, including the police and security personnel, diligently conduct the operation.
This incident comes on the heels of a successful anti-terrorism operation in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, during which two terrorists were neutralized while attempting to infiltrate the Kashmir Valley. The security forces also seized a significant cache of arms and ammunition during the operation on Wednesday.
