Kulgam, Aug 18: In a surprising turn of events, a private security guard hired for hospital service in south Kashmir’s District Hospital (DH) Kulgam has allegedly withdrawn Rs 33 lakhs from the hospital medical superintendent account.
A health official, preferring anonymity, revealed that the guard, who had been employed at the hospital for nearly seven years, deceptively withdrew a substantial sum without the knowledge of the hospital administration.
“The accused identified as Gowhar Ahmad has withdrawn 33 lakhs from the account using his cunning behaviour and had frequently done the last transaction in July last month,” he said.
He said, after the Medical Superintendent found that a large sum of money had been withdrawn from his account without his knowledge, he took up the issue with the police.
“The swift response of the Medical Superintendent, DH Kulgam, yielded success as a large portion of the withdrawn amount was successfully recovered, while efforts continue to reclaim the remaining sum. A First Information Report (FIR) was promptly filed at the local police station against Gowhar Ahmad Thokar, son of Abdul Rashid, and a resident of Souch Kulgam,” he said.
The police have registered a case with FIR number 148/2023 at police station Kulgam under relevant sections of law including forgery and further investigation into the case has been set into motion, he added.
