Srinagar, May 05: A joint delegation of graduate engineers led by the President of the Jammu & Kashmir Civil Engineering Graduates Association (JKCEGA) and the President of the Jammu & Kashmir Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (JKMEGA) called upon the Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary and Advisor to the Chief Minister, Jenab Nasir Aslam Wani, at the Civil Secretariat, Srinagar.
During the meeting, the delegation brought to the fore several long-pending and critical issues affecting the engineering fraternity. Chief among these were the issuance of the SRO for Assured Career Progression (ACP), placement against vacant posts, the pending regularisation of engineers in the PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering departments and referring the vacant posts of JE ( M) etc to recruitment agencies on immediate basis .
The Deputy Chief Minister assured the delegation of prompt action on these matters to ensure timely redressal.
In a detailed and focused discussion with the Advisor to the Chief Minister, the delegation emphasized that the implementation of the ACP scheme is not just long overdue but essential to address the chronic stagnation faced by engineers—largely due to limited sanctioned posts at senior levels such as Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer, and Chief Engineer. The lack of progression opportunities has severely impacted the morale of the fraternity.
The delegation urged the authorities to expedite the implementation of ACP, which would serve as a long-awaited measure of justice and significantly boost the morale of engineers, ultimately contributing to enhanced efficiency and public service delivery.
