Srinagar, Nov 21: Jammu and Kashmir Youth National Conference Provincial President, Kashmir Salman Ali Sagar on Tuesday flayed the government’s claims on employment as “false”, demanding the government to explain to the people what was done during the past decade to provide jobs for the unemployed youth in Kashmir.
Salman said this while presiding over a review meeting with YNC functionaries of district Srinagar in relation to the provincial youth convention to be held on December 12, 2023, the party said in a statement.
Among others, Mushtaq Ahmad, Danish Bhat, Shahid Ali, Tahir Zaman, Abid Wani, Irfan Zehgeer, Sheikh Ovaise and Fazil Bhat were present at the meeting.
“A huge number of our educated and skilled youth are jobless. With the unemployment situation getting worse, drug addiction is also on the spike and the administration amidst all this is going ostrich. Unless unemployed youth are not engaged in various government and semi-government departments and a stipend is also not paid to them, the menace of drug addiction is difficult to be controlled fully. Notwithstanding its lofty claims on providing employment to youth, the government has miserably failed to work out livelihood prospects for our unemployed brothers and sisters,” he said.
On the occasion, Salman reviewed the ongoing preparations for the upcoming youth convention and passed on necessary directions to the concerned functionaries with regards to the arrangements.
