Srinagar, Feb 26: Health Department Kashmir has warned officers and officials over lack of substantial effort from some districts in achieving 100 percent saturation of AB-PMJAY and AB-PM JAY SEHAT scheme.
The health department has issued a circular stating that Chief Medical Officers were repeatedly asked to organize registration camps for Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries across Kashmir to achieve 100 percent saturation of both schemes in all the districts.
The AB PMJAY scheme was launched on Dec 01, 2018, and on Dec 20, 2020 J&K govt. decided to extend the benefits of AB PM-JAY to the entire population through 100% govt. funding mechanism and launched Universal Health Coverage (AB PM-JAY SEHAT) to provide financial protection and access to medical services for eligible beneficiaries.
A first-of-its-kind scheme called AB PM-JAY SEHAT was launched by the Prime Minister on Dec 26, 2020, in the UT extending the benefits of AB PM-JAY to all the residents of the Union Territory including employees and pensioners as well.
“The district-wise progress is available as an attachment to this circular, however, despite repeated instructions and concerns have arisen due to a lack of substantial effort from some districts in achieving 100 percent saturation. The government takes this issue seriously and emphasizes the importance of Ayushman Card creation,” the circular said.
The Govt. of India launched “Ayushman Bhava” and “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra” campaigns to ensure optimal delivery of state-run health schemes, including those in remote areas, and achieve saturation for all eligible beneficiaries.
“Unfortunately, some districts have not utilized these campaigns effectively to saturate registrations under AB PM-JAY and AB PM-JAY SEHAT,” the DHSK circular read.
The health department has directed all the Chief Medical Officers to ensure complete coverage for all eligible beneficiaries under AB-PMJAY and AB-PMJAY Sehat scheme by March 15th, 2024.
It said that failure to achieve full saturation will result in strict action under relevant regulations, which shall be reflected in officers’ performance.
As per the data maintained by the health department Kupwara has achieved 68 percent coverage of the two schemes which is the lowest among all the districts in the Kashmir division.
Similarly, Srinagar has registered 75 percent beneficiaries, Baramulla 79 percent, Bandipora 80 percent, Anantnag 82 percent, Ganderbal 83 percent, Budgam 84 percent, Kulgam 85 percent, Shopian 88 percent, and Pulwama 90 percent which is the highest by any district.
