Srinagar, Mar 12: The Jammu and Kashmir government should prioritize the development of the health and education sectors, as both are directly linked to the welfare of the common people, MLA Rajouri, Iftikhar Choudhary, said on Wednesday.
He stated that the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has presented a historic first budget, lay-ing the foundation for a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing his satisfaction, Choudhary welcomed the Chief Minister’s announcement of a high-powered committee to address the long-pending issue of regularizing daily-rated, ad hoc, and casual workers in the Union Territory.
Notably, the committee, headed by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, will draft a comprehensive roadmap to be presented in the next budget session of the Legislative Assembly.
Choudhary criticized the previous LG administration and the BJP-PDP government, accusing them of neglecting the issue of daily wagers’ regularization for the past ten years.
“Now, a clear commitment has been made, and a committee has been constituted. Over the next six months, financial implications will be assessed, paving the way for the regularization of daily wagers,” he said.
He thanked the Chief Minister for standing up for the genuine concerns of daily wagers, ad hoc and casual laborers, Rehbar-e-Khel, Rehbar-e-Ziraat, Rehbar-e-Sehat, NYC, MGNREGA workers, and others.
