Bandipora, August 30: In a gesture of remembrance and respect, the government on Wednesday renamed a Primary School in the memory of a dedicated policeman who once served as the security guard for gunman turned politician, Kuka Parrey, in Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora.
Situated in Bonikhan area of Hajin, the school, previously known as Government Primary School Bonikhan, was officially renamed as “Martyr Shri Zahoor Ahmed Government Primary School” in a ceremony presided over by Naib Tehsildar Hajin Altaf Hussain.
The ceremony also witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Chief Education Officer Bandipora, Zonal Education Officer and members of the slain policeman’s family.
Son of slain policeman Late Zahoor Ahmad Pareey namely Adil Zahoor while talking to reporters expressed gratitude to the government for the honorable gesture, acknowledging the significance of commemorating his father’s service and sacrifice.
Notably, constable Zahoor Ahmed Parray lost his life in 2003 when terrorists targeted the vehicle of Kuka Parray while he was en route to inaugurate a cricket match in Sonawari Sumbal.
