JAMMU, Mar 23: The J&K Government has proposed a mega project of drone based surveillance of disaster prone areas of Jammu besides keeping a close watch on encroachment of State Land, official sources informed.
“The proposal for drone based surveillance of disaster prone areas in Jammu has been finalised and very soon the tenders would be floated,” Gurmeet Singh Bali, a senior official of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), informed Rising Kashmir.
This project of drone based surveillance in Jammu will be executed by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). The tenders would be floated for procurement of tenders.
Through drones, there would be 24×7 surveillance of the crowded areas, shopping malls, flood prone areas etc.
The most important aspect of this proposed project is that the surveillance through drones will reduce the response time during any kind of disaster like situation like breakout of fire, floods, earthquake, building collapse etc.
The drones will provide live videos and pictures to the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICC) already set up at JMC complex, Town Hall, Jammu, sources further informed.
The surveillance through drones will also connect the existing communication channels for redundancy and back up besides providing better services to the people during situations of disaster, sources informed.
“The 24×7 drone based surveillance will also provide better services to the Police, SDRF and other stakeholders during time of emergency/disaster like situation besides enhancing safety and surveillance of the city,” Manager, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL), JP Singh informed Rising Kashmir, while adding, “The drone surveillance will also provide secure connectivity with different smart elements of Jammu Smart City Limited”.
Most importantly, the drone based surveillance will also help the government to  keep a close watch encroachment of State Land, Singh further informed.
