Srinagar, Jan 30:In a significant move, the government issued an order on Tuesday for the renaming of 33 educational institutions, including schools and colleges, as well as roads in Jammu and Kashmir. The renaming is set to honor the names of ‘martyrs and eminent personalities’ associated with the region.
According to the General Administration Department (GAD) order, the newly named infrastructure and assets will now bear the names of various martyrs and eminent personalities. Some of the notable renamings include:
Anantnag – Late Himayun Muzamil Bhat, Dy.SP. Government Degree College (Boys), Anantnag
Srinagar – Late Masroor Ali Wani, Inspector, Government Boys High School, Narwara
Jammu – Late Rachhpal Singh, HC. Government High School (Lehar) Sungal, Akhnoor
Udhampur – Late Krishan Singh, Subedar. Government Middle School, Urliyan, Udhampur
Poonch – Late Abdul Majid, Havaladar; Government High School, Ajote, Poonch
Kishtwar – Late Ravi Kumar, Rifleman. High School, Galigarh
Ramban – Late Tanveer Ahmed SPO Shaheed Tanveer Ahmed Memorial Cricket Ground, Sargali
Additionally, the order emphasizes that concerned Administrative Secretaries are to promptly take necessary steps, including amending records, for the implementation of these changes. The Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir/Jammu has been tasked with personally overseeing the naming of infrastructure/assets in their respective divisions.
The order also instructs Deputy Commissioners to ensure that appropriate events are organized to commemorate the renaming of these infrastructure/assets. This initiative aims to pay tribute to the sacrifices and contributions of the martyrs and eminent personalities associated with Jammu and Kashmir.
