Srinagar, March 12: Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Youth Affairs and Sports, Dr Man-sukh Mandaviya, Wednesday highlighted the pivotal role of youth in shaping India’s future and stat-ed that the government is committed to empower young people through strategic policies. He said that the dream of a developed India will be realised through the determination and talent of the young generation.
Addressing the students at Kashmir University during an event under the ‘Viksit Bharat – Yuva Con-nect initiative, the Union Minister said that the government is committed to empower young people through strategic policies and initiatives that align with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.
Dr Mandaviya praised the ambition, innovation and resilience of the country’s youth, emphasising that their collective efforts would drive India’s journey towards development. “The dream of a de-veloped India will be realised through the determination and talent of our young generation,” he stated.
The Minister outlined key government initiatives focused on education, skill development, and em-ployment generation, ensuring that young people are equipped with the necessary tools to contrib-ute meaningfully to national progress. He encouraged students to take an active role in shaping the country’s future, stressing that their participation is crucial to achieving India’s long-term develop-mental goals.
Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, Professor Nilofer Khan, welcomed Dr Mandaviya and expressed confidence in the students’ ability to be catalysts for positive change. “Every student has the potential to make a meaningful impact on society,” she said. As part of the programme, Dr Man-daviya engaged in an interactive session with students, discussing leadership, aspirations and na-tion-building. The event also included a tree-planting ceremony on the university campus under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, reinforcing a commitment to environmental sustainability.
Senior officials from the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs, educationists, and distinguished guests attended the event, which is part of a broader initiative to connect with students across the Kashmir Valley. The Viksit Bharat – Yuva Connect initiative aims to foster youth engagement and leadership in India’s developmental transformation. The programme includes discussions on the concept of a ‘De-veloped India’ with students in educational institutions nationwide, offering them opportunities to interact with eminent speakers. Launched in Maharashtra on August 19, 2024, the initiative has since been organised in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Delhi, Gujarat, and now Jammu and Kashmir.
