Government Polytechnic Jammu organises chess, carrom, badminton competitions

Jammu, Aug 30: Government Polytechnic College Jammu celebrated National Sports Day with great pomp and show here on the Campus by organizing sports completion in different games. The students of different departments participated in chess, Carrom and Badminton competitions.
Principal Er. Arun Bangotra was the chief guest, while Workshop Superintendent Inderjeet Singh was the guest of honor.
Speaking on the occasion, the principal apprised students about life and achievements of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand in whose memory this day is being celebrated. He exhorted all present to take part in some sports to stay fit and healthy.
In the Badminton Boys category, Amit Chalotra was winner while Akhileshwar Singh was Runner up. In Badminton Girls category, winner was Neha and runner up was Sakshi Gupta. In Chess Boys winner was Akash Radha and runner up was Ayush Mehra, in chess Girl’s winner was Vineeta. In carrom Boys winner was Aqib Mir while in carrom Girl’s winner was Shaila.
In the end, a spoon race was organised and students and staff took part as a fun which was enjoyed by everyone. Certificate of participation was presented to all the winners and runners up by the chief guest in presence of all staff and students.
Among those present on occasion were Er Sukhdeep Singh HOD Civil Engg. Dept, Raj Shekhar HOD Automobile Engg Dept., Er. Manjeet Singh, HOD Electrical Engg, Amit Kumar Sharma Lecturer, Travel & Tourism, Er Sanam Gupta Lecturer Mechanical Engg Dept., Er Ajay Thapa Lecturer Mechanical Engg Dept, Dheeraj Kumar Lecturer Travel & Tourism Dept, Chamel Singh PEM, Toshi Devi PET, Vinay Sharma Instructor, Ritu Manhas, Sanjogita and Ved Pal Instructor Computer, staff and students of the institution.
