Ladakh, Nov 29: The Government of India (GOI) is accelerating efforts to strengthen infrastructure and appoint manpower in Ladakh’s newly created districts—Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang. To ensure smooth implementation, the New Districts Committee convened a high-level virtual meeting, chaired by Pramod Kumar Jain, on November 14, with key officials from Kargil and Leh in attendance.
Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, joined the meeting from NIC Kargil. Committee members Kacho Asfandyar Khan and Tsering Angchok, along with other senior officials, also participated. District officers, including SSP Kargil Shree Raam R, ADC Kargil Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani, Chief Engineer PHE/I&FC Maqbool Hussain, SDM Drass Vishal Atri, and SDM Shakar Chiktan Dr Sanjat Bhardwaj, provided updates on infrastructure availability and staffing requirements.

During the meeting, department heads briefed the committee on the current status of infrastructure and proposed the creation of posts to meet the administrative needs of the new districts. Pramod Kumar Jain emphasized the importance of timely submissions, directing all Heads of Departments (HoDs) to forward their proposals through the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil.
The formation of these new districts, announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in August 2024, aims to enhance administrative efficiency, improve public service delivery, and promote balanced regional development.
