Baramulla, Sept 02: Government Medical College Baramulla achieved a significant milestone with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art Polysomnography Lab, aimed at advancing the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
Principal, Dr. (Prof.) Ruby Reshi, presided over the ceremony, which witnessed the presence of key medical professionals and faculty members, including Dr. Shumail Bashir, Head of the Department of Chest Medicine, and Medical Superintendent Dr. Parvez Masoodi.
A health care official said that the Polysomnography Lab, equipped with cutting-edge technology, represents a vital addition to GMC Baramulla’s medical facilities.
“This advanced facility specializes in comprehensive sleep studies, monitoring various physiological parameters during sleep,” he said.
“Its capabilities empower healthcare providers to diagnose and address conditions like sleep apnea, narcolepsy, and insomnia with enhanced precision.”
Medical Superintendent AHGMC Dr. Parvez Masoodi said that patients in need of comprehensive sleep disorder diagnostics and treatments will no longer have to journey to Srinagar or other distant locations.
