Baramulla, November 11: Department of Biochemistry at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla is set to commemorate World Diabetes Day 2023 with a free diabetes investigation cum consultation camp for the people of north Kashmir.
Medical Superintendent Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi said that the event will include a free diabetes investigation cum consultation camp in collaboration with the Department of Medicine and Ophthalmology at GMC Baramulla.
“This camp will provide complimentary screening tests and medical consultations for individuals with diabetes,” Dr. Masoodi said.
He said that in addition to the camp, the program will feature a lecture series presented by prominent clinicians and researchers from the valley.
Moreover, the poster presentation will showcase the work of students from MBBS, paramedical, and nursing departments at GMC Baramulla.
“The primary focus is on extending an invitation to the general public, especially those in the diabetic population of North Kashmir, to participate in the free diabetes investigation cum consultation camp at the Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla on November 14, 2023,” he further added.
He expressed optimism about the impact of the events, stating, “We hope that the series of events on the eve of World Diabetes Day will not only benefit the general public but also serve to educate the diabetic population about the importance of diabetes care and encourage policymakers to enhance diabetes care in the Valley.”
Dr. Parvaiz said that the event is open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend the event at Auditorium Hall and Parking Lot, GMC Baramulla starting from 10 am.
World Diabetes Day is observed globally on November 14 to raise awareness about diabetes and its associated complications. This annual event aims to shed light on the importance of universal access to diabetes care, irrespective of socioeconomic status or geographical location.
