Baramulla, Nov 28: The authorities at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla on Tuesday announced a thorough investigation into the “untimely” death of a 34-year-old female patient admitted to Associated Hospital GMC in the district on Monday, November 27.
A healthcare official at GMC Baramulla said that the patient, Dilshada, admitted as a case of GZPILS (SCS) with POG 38 weeks in labour, underwent a Lower Segment Cesarean Section (LSCS) on the same day at around 10:35 am.
Despite the medical team’s efforts to provide the best possible care during her stay at the hospital, she passed away, he said.
Medical Superintendent AH GMC Baramulla, Dr Parvaiz Masoodi said that upon receiving news of the unfortunate incident, the Principal GMC Baramulla took immediate action to initiate a thorough investigation.
“A committee of seasoned professionals is being constituted to examine the case, and their findings will be made public as soon as the investigations conclude,” Dr Parvaiz said.
In adherence to the commitment to transparency and accountability, the Head of the Department of Gynaecology at GMC Baramulla has been directed to submit a comprehensive incident report within one day.
The hospital authorities have urged caution from the people and the media, requesting them to refrain from premature allegations or speculations until the committee completes its investigation.
“Government Medical College Baramulla is committed to providing high-quality healthcare services and assures the public that all necessary steps will be taken to maintain the highest standards of patient care at Associated Hospital GMC Baramulla,” Dr Masoodi said, adding that the hospital acknowledges the importance of a fair and impartial inquiry.
We express our thoughts with Mrs Dilshada’s family during this difficult time and assure that every effort will be made to address any concern that may arise from this unfortunate incident, the Medical Superintendent added.
