‘Global Handwashing Day’ observed in Anantnag educational institutions

Anantnag, Oct 16: The Department of Education along with other stakeholders today celebrated the Global Handwashing Day across all middle, High and Higher secondary schools in the district.
In more than 1210 schools, 36000 students and 5200 teachers participated in the celebration.
Various activities were conducted in schools which include conducting mass awareness programmes, seminars on importance of washing hands and personal hygiene, painting competition invigorating children to share their ideas regarding hygiene, Essay writing competition on the said topic besides other activities.
The students at all institutes were exhorted to ensure maintenance of personal hygiene. The students were made aware of the role of washing hands to keep themselves and their families’ disease free.
The students were also sensitized about ensuring minimum use of water and avoiding wastage by turning off taps when washing their hands.
