Udhampur, Jan 25: A three-day training programme on “Gender Sensitization and Forensic Training,” sponsored by the National Commission for Women (NCW), New Delhi, concluded Friday at the SK Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur.
The training saw the participation of 22 police officers and officials from across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at enhancing their understanding of women’s rights, promoting gender equality, and addressing gender-based violence. The programme also included crucial forensic training to help participants improve their skills in investigation and evidence collection, with a particular focus on the scientific aspects of law enforcement. The training featured lectures from distinguished speakers, including Shalini Sharma, Member of the Juvenile Justice Board Jammu; Priyank Singh, Central Administrator of the One Stop Centre for Women, Poonch; Riaz Ahmed, Senior Police Officer at SKPA, Dr. Kavit Suri, Professor at the Department of Lifelong Learning, University of Jammu; Dr. Sunny Sharma, Scientific Officer at the Forensic Science Laboratory Jammu and others participated in the session. This initiative forms part of the ongoing efforts to enhance police training in both gender sensitisation and forensic capabilities in Jammu and Kashmir.
