Jammu, Dec 01: Dr Tariq Parvez Azad, former professor of surgery at GMC Jammu and Founder Principal of Government Medical College Doda, has officially joined the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) in the presence of DPAP Chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad. The Chairman welcomed Dr Tariq, considering it a significant boost to the party’s cadre.
Addressing the gathering, Azad emphasized that DPAP has an open-door policy for those who wish to contribute to the prosperity and welfare of the people. He acknowledged Dr Tariq’s extensive service to thousands of people across Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of the country.
The DPAP chief said that merit is the key criterion for success in the party, encouraging competent and dedicated individuals to join and grow within the party. He expressed the party’s commitment to promoting talent and ensuring that the people of J&K are represented by genuine and capable leaders. “We are here to promote talent and ensure that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are represented by the most genuine representatives,” he said.
The former chief minister lamented the divisive and religion-driven politics that have hindered social bonds and pushed genuine public issues to the background. Azad assured that DPAP will refrain from engaging in such politics and urged people to vote for development, peace, and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting with office bearers in Jammu Central, Azad stressed the importance of strong coordination with workers on the ground. He directed office bearers to conduct booth-level and corner meetings to strengthen the party cadre. The DPAP chief called for a united effort to counter divisive and communal forces, urging leaders to address the genuine problems faced by the people.
Present at the occasion were R.S. Chib, General Secretary; Jugal Kishore Sharma, Provincial President; Ch Haroon Khatana, General Secretary; Amin Bhatt, Provincial President Kashmir; Vinod Mishra, General Secretary; Anita Thakur, General Secretary; Ch Gharu Ram, Zonal President; and other party members.
