Kathua, Jan 1: The volunteers of NSS Unit GDCW Kathua on Sunday watered the trees which they planted a day before. Five different teams pruned the area of the newly planted trees on the college campus and thereafter a huge Swacchta rally was organized at the adopted village Changran. The rally was flagged off by the sarpanch of the village, Romesh Kumar, in presence of Dr Arun Dev Singh, NSS program officer of Government Degree College for Women Kathua, local people and NSS volunteers.
Kumar on the occasion said the rally would definitely have an impact on the people’s minds regarding the Swacchta Abhiyan and its importance in their respective areas where they reside. He said the NSS unit always conducts such programs in the village to aware the people on many issues like nasha mukt, swacchta, waste management, vermi-compost, organic farming, digital awareness, awareness of many schemes of government, and distribution of books, stationery and confectionery items among the poor people.
Dr. Arun Dev Singh also spoke on the occasion. He extended special gratitude to the sarpanch and the local people on behalf of Dr. Sangita Nagari, principal of GDCW Kathua. He appreciated the sarpanch and the local people for always being ready to listen to the NSS volunteers patiently and following them practically in their lives.
The NSS volunteers who are participating in the camp and joined on the 5th day in the Swacchta Rally with placards of different slogans which gave a clear message among the people of the village for managing the waste management into the dustbins properly. During the rally, the volunteers inspired the local people and appeal to them to come forward with them for making the village a better place of living and set an example of cleanliness and a pollution-free society.
They emphasized that their positive efforts in the field of Swacchta can also play an important role to bring a revolution in the field of the well-being of society. The motto of the rally was to spread the message of the Government of India and the NSS family among the people.
The NSS volunteers raised various slogans like Clean India Green India, Jan Jan Ne Yeh Jaan Liya Swacchta Ko Kartavye Maan Liya, Hamara Yeh Naara Hai Adopted Village Changran Ko Swacch Banana Hai.
At the culmination of the rally, Dr. Arun Dev Singh said, “The NSS volunteers along with the sarpanch of the village covered every nook and corner of the entire village which comprises 1000 families living over there and made them aware of the importance of cleanliness and hygiene which is the dire need of the society. We have to follow the concept of Reuse, Reduce and Recycle and take a pledge to make the village free of diseases, and pollution and promote a healthy atmosphere in the village.”
